New Star Trek Photo’s Hit The Net

I’m trying not to get my hopes up for the upcoming Star Trek prequel, as I’ve been very disappointed by these movies before. Now J.J Abrams (the guy who brought you “Lost”) is heading this one up, and does say that hard core fans most likely will be pissed off with this version. Abrams goal is to appeal to a wider audience who may not be familiar with the Star Trek lore, and will not let continuity stand in his way. Now why I can understand and appreciate a revision of a show (i.e “Battlestar Galatica), I’m not sure that this is the way to go with a franchise that has 40 years of developed history behind it.

While I’m not writing it off, it does give me pause.

Well new photos have turned up for the new movie from Empire magazine, and while you can never tell about a movie from a few stills, it certainly shows promise. Now with that kiss of death that I just gave it, watch it suck ass.

Resident Evil: Degeneration

A new Resident Evil movie was announced at Comic-Con today. Resident Evil: Degeneration is making its theatrical debut this fall in Japan and coming to DVD and Blu-ray in North America later in 2008. It's an all-CGI animated feature "takes the zombie action to a whole new level with its ground-breaking visual effects and thrilling new storyline."
Here's how IGN described the flick's plot:
The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City ended with a missile attack ordered by the government intended to wipe out the deadly zombie virus. Following this catastrophe, the Umbrella Corporation's stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. Seven years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States, on an ordinary autumn afternoon, a zombie is unleashed. Now, in an airport beginning to fill with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to repeat itself... Claire Redfield, now a member of an NGO supporting victims of bioterrorism and medical disasters, happens to be in the airport while Leon S. Kennedy comes to the site on a mission to take care of the incident.

OK, I'm all over this one.

Hancock, not your average film

I'm writing this to let you know, I went to an advance screening put on by a radio station today. For the record, Hancock rocks!!! This is another in the long string of great summer blockbusters that Will Smith has been part of. The best part of the movie is the humor, everything you see on the previews continues throughout the movie. Plus the action is first rate, and there is an actual plot and plot twists. I give the movie a hearty thumbs up. I do want to say that you do need to go into this movie expecting to have fun, it is not a movie that takes itself to seriously. But I can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed it.

Pixar's Wall-E looks fun

OK. I love animated movies and especially CGI movies, and nobody is better than Pixar. This movie looks like it'll be an absolute riot. I'm looking forward to it even more now.

Why there were no male Amazons

Had to wait a couple minutes before posting this after I read it over at JijiNKS Ensue. Had to clean the Coca-Cola that sprayed out my mouth and onto my laptop. Lucky for them I didn't have it come out my nose, cuz then I'd be pissed.

But all jokes aside, I'd go see a Wonder Woman movie.

If you're a fan of Battlestar Galactica you most likely know that there will not be a new episode until early next year. But fear not, their will be a BSG movie to tie you over until then. "Battlestar Galactica: Razor" will hit the air waves on November 24th, and if you're lucky enough to live near a selected city, you'll get a chance to see it early on the big screen. Theaters will have a speical showing of the movie on November 12th, and the best part is that it's free!

The following cities are:

Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Chicago.

Plot Concept: Centers on Lee Adama’s (Jamie Bamber) command of the Battlestar Pegasus and also depicts events that took place on that ship just after the Cylon attack 10 months earlier, while it was under the command of Helena Cain (Michelle Forbes).

New Iron Man Poster Hits The Net

Hello fellow geeks!!!

Not sure if you had a chance to see the new poster of the Iron Man movie that is due out next May. I know there are some old school comic book fans out there who might remember how cool Iron Man was. So I'm really hopeful that they don't screw this one up.

Directors Talk 'Aliens vs Predator: Requiem'

For people who absolutely hated the last 'Aliens vs Predator' movie (including myself), there might be good news coming from an interview with the directors of the sequel 'Aliens vs Predator: Requiem'. Colin and Greg Strause even take a few shots at the last movie that disappointed fans. But I must warn you now, there are spoilers in this, so if you don't want to know anything about the movie stop now:

"We really have to prove to the fans," added his brother Colin, "that this movie's gonna be very different from the last one."

"We wanted to [go R-rated] with it," added Colin, who not only wears the same sunglasses as his 1-year-older brother, but even orders his burger the same way. "I mean, we chest-burst a little kid!"

"Yeah, he dies," Greg confirmed of the ill-fated child. "Onscreen, and very painfully. It's pretty f---ed up, but breaking some of the rules is a good thing here."

Given the go-ahead to make their hard-R flick, the Brothers Strause are steering clear of the PG-13 traps that rendered their predecessor so despised that an "AVP" podcast recently declared, "The only thing [director] Paul [W.S.] Anderson did correctly was bring people closer together in their community hatred of him."

Well I'm a little more hopeful about this movie now.
We shall see.

Tobey Maguire: Robotech Live Action Movie Coming Soon

It seems that everyone is jumping on the transforming robot band wagon.

Hollywood Reporter has said that Tobey Maguire will be hanging up the Spiderman suit for a while, in order to bring a live action movie based of the 1980's hit cartoon 'Robotech'. It looks like Maguire and Warner Bros have picked up the rights to the anime manga franchise, and will be produced under Tobey Maguire's new production company, 'Maguire Entertainment'. Both Warner Bros and Maguire hope that this will be the next big 'Sci-Fi' franchise, and expect this to be a major release.

I've loved the action and the writing from this show, and always thought that it would translate well to a live action movie.

Well shall see.

Zombie's Halloween Takes Number 1

Rob Zombie's remake of 'Halloween' takes the number 1 spot this week with a take of 26.5 million, beating out 'Superbad' and 'Balls of Fury'. But the clear bomb of the week is Stardust, which cost 70 million to make and has brought in only 31 million after 4 weeks. Paramount has already started to pull it from theaters and canceling 573 prints over the weekend.

'Superbad': Ain't So Bad

It always warms my heart when geeks get the last laugh, and that's just what happened when the movie 'Superbad' goes up against and wins; facing more well known movies and actors. Movies like 'Rush hour 3', 'The Bourne Ultimatum', and 'Invasion' who have big names head lining their movies, had to take a back seat to the geek unknowns. See how they lined up this week: Courtesy of Mania
