Directors Talk 'Aliens vs Predator: Requiem'

For people who absolutely hated the last 'Aliens vs Predator' movie (including myself), there might be good news coming from an interview with the directors of the sequel 'Aliens vs Predator: Requiem'. Colin and Greg Strause even take a few shots at the last movie that disappointed fans. But I must warn you now, there are spoilers in this, so if you don't want to know anything about the movie stop now:

"We really have to prove to the fans," added his brother Colin, "that this movie's gonna be very different from the last one."

"We wanted to [go R-rated] with it," added Colin, who not only wears the same sunglasses as his 1-year-older brother, but even orders his burger the same way. "I mean, we chest-burst a little kid!"

"Yeah, he dies," Greg confirmed of the ill-fated child. "Onscreen, and very painfully. It's pretty f---ed up, but breaking some of the rules is a good thing here."

Given the go-ahead to make their hard-R flick, the Brothers Strause are steering clear of the PG-13 traps that rendered their predecessor so despised that an "AVP" podcast recently declared, "The only thing [director] Paul [W.S.] Anderson did correctly was bring people closer together in their community hatred of him."

Well I'm a little more hopeful about this movie now.
We shall see.

Aliens vs Predator 2: REQUIEM Trailer Has Hit The Net

The trailer for Aliens vs Predator 2: REQUIEM has made its way on the net, and I have hope that the trailer isn't the best part of the movie. But the trailer looks very promising, and I'm sure that this isn't the final cut.

Check it out!

Aliens vs Predator: REQUIEM: First Picture

IGN has the first picture for the new Aliens vs Predator: REQUIEM have made it to the Internet. This movie is rumored to have a darker setting than the last movie from 2004, and will have a Rated-R release compared to the Rated-PG-13 of the first movie.

I hope that this translates into a better movie than the first one, but I won't hold my breath.

Aliens vs Predator: REQUIEM will street on December 25, 2007.

Thanks to IGN and Mania for this info.

Alien vs. Predator 2: Oh Lord, Why?

If you saw the movie 'Aliens vs Predator' you know that it was pretty disappointing to say the least. I won't go as far as to call it hot garbage, but it was close to being in the team photo. So I was surprised to find out that 'Aliens vs Predator 2' was in production, with a release date too boot. And when I ran across this at www.sifimoviepage.com, it summed up everything that was going though my mind when I found out. Check it below:

Starring: Reiko Aylesworth, Steven Pasquale, Shareeka Epps, John Ortiz, Johnny Lewis, Kristen Hager

Director: Greg Strause, Colin Strause
Rated: Unrated
U.S. Opening Date: 21 December 2007

They say

In this follow-up to Alien vs. Predator, the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage their most brutal battle yet in an unsuspecting Colorado town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival.

We say

Yeah, the first Alien vs. Predator was really really good, so they just had to make a sequel (note sarcasm) . . .

A cast of unknowns, an obscure brother directors team (the Brothers Krause) whose previous work consists of music videos and special effects work for X3 and a Canadian shooting location. It’s official: 20th Century Fox has given up on the Alien and Predator franchises and no longer consider it worth spending any serious money and/or talent on either of them. So forget about ever seeing Sigourney Weaver as Ripley again or original movie director Ridley Scott directing another installment again. Alien vs. Predator has entered the “they should have released it straight to DVD, but instead they gave it a run in the cinemas.” Just like Fox did with Eragon . . .

That about nails it on the head!!!
