Apple Releases 2.1 Update For iPhone

Alrighty 3G iPhone owners, here is the firmware update that you’ve all been waiting for. Well, at least we hope that this is the one that we’ve all been waiting for. Apple has released firmware 2.1, and it is said to fix all sorts of bugs that have plagued the new iPhone. I really hope that this is the case, because I’m tired of hearing all bitching that 3G owners are doing. Check the bug fixes below:

• Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
• Significantly better battery life for most users
• Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
• Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
• Faster installation of 3rd party applications
• Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
• Improved performance in text messaging
• Faster loading and searching of contacts
• Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
• Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
• Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
• Genius playlist creation

Blackberry Bold UI Video

One thing that I like about Blackberry is that they understand just because you need a mobile device for business, it doesn’t mean that it has to suck. Over the past few years, they’ve worked on the design on their phones (Pearl, Curve, ect.). Now the UI gets a new look and feel with the intro of the Blackberry Bold, and it looks very cool. The only problem is that it’s been delayed until August, clearing a path for the new 3G iphone. Oh well, we can at least look at it.

Check it out.

Samsung Has Soul, Brothas And Sistas

Samsung has revamped their gorgeous Ultra Edition range with the new Soul. This hot slider has 7.2Mbps HSDPA (which I think is faster than my so called broadband at home), auto focus 5MP camera, and a SD slot. It also comes with touch UI, which can morph and change the icons according to the application that is being used. The 2.2" 320 x 240 pixel full-color display is a little small, but that’s a little price to pay when you get it in a package that’s only 12.9mm thick.

Leaked Photos Of The Motorola ZiNe Z12?

No word on if this is true or not, but the Czech site Mobile.cz is claiming that these are the leaked photos of the Motorola ZiNe Z12. It’s said to have touch screen, and an array of goodies such as GPS, Wi-Fi and possibly a 5 to 8-megapixel camera. It certainly looks sexy and promising, but I’ve said that about a lot of women and gadgets and have been disappointed on both fronts.

Samsung Intros The F490 Today: For How Much?

Samsung dropped their Jesus phone killer (how many times have I said that?) today and I have to say that it’s a hot looking phone. The Samsung F490 has a 5 megapixel camera and 3.2 inch color screen, 130MB, Bluetooth 2.0, and supports 3G at 3.6Mbps. But there are two things that I don’t like about this thing: 1. it’s going to Europe first at a cost of $734 without a contract, and 2. it’s going to come to the states for $734 without a contract.

Samsung can kiss my ass for this non revolutionary phone.

How Bad Cell Phones Should Be Treated!!!

Man, I am so ready to do this to my Motorola SLVR, the one that has decided to turn itself on an off when it feels like it. The one that interrupts most phone calls now! The one that will not let me finish a damn text without restarting itself on the fly!

You know, the more I think about it, the more I feel like my boy who works in the Burger Shack in Harold and Kumar. His response at the end is classic, and sums up how I feel about the SLVR. Kinda (NSFW).

Where the hell is the batter my friends!!

School Bans Cellphones After Principle is Caught On Video Fighting With Student

In another edition of how silly our education system is, comes this gem about a principle and a student fighting. The incident took place at Huntington High School, and was caught on video with a cellphone. So with a principle fighting a student, how do you think the Caddo School Board would respond? Dismissal of the principle? Suspension?

Nope.

The board decided on a ban of cellphones in the school was a more appropriate act. In fact the board did nothing about the principle until the student showed the video to the local media. The board responded by putting the principle on paid administrative leave. I think the more appropriate response would be to remove the morons on the board who thought it was a good idea to ban cellphones. Removing the devices that catch your teachers and principles doing things that they shouldn't isn't the answer.

Try hiring administration that will set a good example and not join in on the fray.

Analyst Says AT&T Pays Apple $831 Per iphone

Well I guess the real reason of why Apple was so determined to lock down the iphone from hackers. After an analyst with Piper Jaffray examined the financial aspects of the AT&T/Apple deal, it seems that AT&T pays Apple $18 per month for every activated iphone through AT&T. Yes my friends, that breaks down to $831 during that 2-year bend over contract that you have to sign to own one.

I guess that's a pretty good reason why Apple went out of their way to brick iphones that were not in the loop. I guess the $600 bone wasn't enough, Apple has to make sure that you're not cheating them out of the additional 8 bills they feel they've got come'n.

Well if you've hacked your iphone, feel good knowing that you're beating 'the man'!

More Details On The Tilt

The AT&T Tilt or the HTC Kaiser as it is also known by, has a few leaked details about its September launch. The Tilt will run $349, once you sell your cellular soul for 2 years. It also comes with push-to-talk, Wi-Fi, 2.8-inch tilting screen, push email, Microsoft Office with WM6.

Funny?!

Maybe my eyes are bad, because I don't see 3G on this listing that the Tilt is said to have.
That's a deal breaker!!!

3G Coming To iphone Soon?

Apple continues to wheel and deal with different partners, and this time with InterDigital. It is reported that a deal was signed worth around 56 million dollars, that covers "various 2G and 3G cellular technologies."

The new deal would signal that 3G will be coming to the iphone, and I'm hoping very soon. Although I know that if that happens, we'll get another bunch of whiny punks crying about how they bought the first iphone and now they don't have 3G.

So if Apple does this, get ready to open the check book again Steve-O!!!

T-Mobile to launch 3G Service Next Month?

If your carrier is T-Mobile, you already know that they are not known to have cutting edge technology first. This is proven by T-Mobile lack of 3G support, but no longer. If you're a customer of T-Mobile and have been waiting for them to catch up with the rest of the world, your wait might be over.

BGR has found a listing for a new Samsung phone that is to be released on T-Mobile's side, and the interesting thing is that it has 3G UMTS abilities. The t639 from Samsung is due out on September 10, and it has the standard Bluetooth and 1-Megapixel camera, and speaker.

T-Mobile's is expected to launch their 3G on the same date, and since they have built their new network from the ground up, they should have a leg up on the competition for the very first time. This should be interesting.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Cell Phones

One thing that I've always had a weakness for is cool looking phones. I use to replace my cell phone yearly, just to have the best looking cell phone. All the features were secondary to me, I just loved the looks of it. Well my taste has gone up a little, and now features are very important to me, but the cool looking ones always catch my attention.

That's why when Fosfor Gadgets put together the top 10 most beautiful cell phones, I was all over it. The list starts with one of my favorites, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco and counts down from there. Take a look at the list.

iphone: V-Moda, I Chose You

So you picked up an iphone, but realized that those expensive head sets that you bought for your ipod won't fit it. What to do, what to do?

Well you knew it wouldn't be long.

V-Moda has stylish head sets that fit the iphone, and has product jargon like earbud / microphone combo features V-MASQUE dynamic drivers. It also comes with a noise canceling feature called BLISS that doesn't require batteries.

Priced at $101.00 it certainly is more reasonable than some headsets out there. And I think they're second to none on looks.

A Free iphone In Every Pot

Steve Jobs had his "Town hall meeting" today with all of the Apple minions, and the rat bastard had the nerve to announce that every Apple employee will get a free iphone.

Not some, but all!!!

Even the freekin temps who've been with the company more than a year will get one!!!

So we have to stand in line to drop $500-$600 to get one, and some pimple faced freeloading punk who's been hanging out at the store for a year gets one for free.

No, I'm not bitter at all!!!

It is kinda cool that Jobs is spending over 12 million to play Santa Claus in July though.
