Apple Says 250,000 iphones Unlocked

Rather interesting news coming out of Cupertino today, specifically about the iphone. Apple reports that of the 1.4 million iphones that were sold, 250,000 were bought with the intent to unlock. Apple states that many of the 250,000 were purchased after the price drop, with many of them going to U.S. T-Mobile or exporters.

As you can imagine, this isn't an insignificant number to Apple, and I see why they're going to such lengths to lock the phones again. But Apple has always been known to listen to their customers and provide the things that they want. So why don't they just release an unlocked version of their phone and allow consumers to choose?

Isn't that the essence of "Think Different"?

Rumor: Europe Getting Better iphone

This rumor certainly could be bogus but with the way the rest of the world gets better cell phones than the U.S., I would lean towards it being true.

It looks like the Europeans are going to get the iphone with 16GB and with 3G coming November 12th 2007. The advertisement shows the iphone on T-Mobile with download speeds of 3.6Mbps, a monthly plan of $69-$96, and a price tag of $687. If this is the version 2 that the U.S. will be getting, I'm hoping that the time line will be the same as Europe.

Of course this is all rumor and should be taken with a huge block of salt.

New BlackBerry Colors For T-Mobile Users

For all my T-Mobile friends out there who are tired of the standard black or red BlackBerry Pearl, your phones have arrived. Now on T-Mobile's site you can get a black, white, red, gold, and blue Pearl to match your man purse.

Nice, pretty little BlackBerry; now go make a newer model!

$10K For A Unlocked iphone

You want an iphone that's unlocked but don't want to go through the trouble unlocking it yourself? Well someone was nice enough to take care of that for you, and if you have an extra $10,200 sitting around, you might have a chance at it.

That's right. Someone is selling an unlocked iphone for $10,200 on ebay. The guy originally started the bid at $540, and it just grew from there.

I know that I'm not the biggest fan of AT&T, but I don't know if I hate them enough to buy a phone for $10,000 to avoid them.

iphone Unlocked!

I know how much people hate dislike AT&T. But they usually get most of the cool phones, so you're forced to deal with them or get unlocked phones for other carriers. But for the iphone, that's been a problem because of the difficulty of unlocking it.

Not anymore!!!

These guys have done it, but will release the details later next week when they’ll have a software work around.

Check it out.

T-Mobile to launch 3G Service Next Month?

If your carrier is T-Mobile, you already know that they are not known to have cutting edge technology first. This is proven by T-Mobile lack of 3G support, but no longer. If you're a customer of T-Mobile and have been waiting for them to catch up with the rest of the world, your wait might be over.

BGR has found a listing for a new Samsung phone that is to be released on T-Mobile's side, and the interesting thing is that it has 3G UMTS abilities. The t639 from Samsung is due out on September 10, and it has the standard Bluetooth and 1-Megapixel camera, and speaker.

T-Mobile's is expected to launch their 3G on the same date, and since they have built their new network from the ground up, they should have a leg up on the competition for the very first time. This should be interesting.

New Sidekick LE and LX coming from T-Mobile?

Could we be seeing another couple of new Sidekick devices from T-Mobile sometime in the near future?

According to two new domains registered by T-Mobile, we may see the Sidekick LE and Sidekick LX. The two domains are of course sidekickle.com and sidekicklx.com.

We’re not too sure what these devices are, or if they were just ideas that T-Mobile had and decided to jump on the domains. We’ll keep our eyes out for these two phones.

Read the rest after the jump. [via hiptop3]
