Vista Ultimate (RED) available today

If you don’t want to buy a new Dell PC to get the Windows Vista Ultimate (RED) edition, you can pre-order the standalone operating system over at Amazon for $219.95. If you’re a lucky college student like me, you can purchase the OS at a discount price of $64.95 at The Ultimate Steal.

This version of Vista Ultimate features (RED) wallpapers, gadgets, a screen saver and a DreamScene. Brands who participate in (RED) contribute part of their profits to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

The deal from The Ultimate Steal is the cheapest way to get Vista that I can think of.

Rockstar Games cheap on Steam

Need something to play this weekend? Need it on the cheap? If you're on board with this whole digital distribution through Steam thing, some classic and not-so-classic Rockstar Games titles are being sold at bargain basement prices. Ten bucks for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Five for Manhunt? You could do a hell of a lot worse. The entire Rockstar Games Collection is just $29.99 in U.S. dollars, making corruption by video game violence a steal.

Dell Offering Xbox 360 Elite For $299 (WSL)

If you're looking to pick up a Xbox 360 Elite, you might want to head over to Dell's site. For a while Dell was bundling up their XPS M1730 machines with the Elites, but if you didn't have $3000 you were out of luck.

Not anymore.....

Now Dell is bundling up the Elite all by itself for $299, and throwing in two ugly faceplates, Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. That's a savings of $150, but you better get over there quick while they have them.

Thanks to Engadget for this info..

New MacBooks Cheaper Than Dell?

Proving that hell isn’t immune to this crappy ass winter, I came across this gem below:

FROM FAKESTEVE.BLOGSPOT.COM: Some Wall Street dudes ran the numbers and even made a chart. We're at $1,099. The comparable machine from Dell costs $1,119. And it comes with Vista Home Premium. Can someone please tell me why we don't have 90% market share? Or at least, like, 50%? Anyone? Bueller?

Flame on kids, flame on!

Cheap LCDs on the way

Samsung has found a process to make LCDs from cheaper glass (theregister) due to less heat involved in the process. This means the price of Samsung LCDs will be dropping eventually, meaning I can finally afford to upgrade my CRT Lowdef TV. Maybe.

Woot Off Going On Today!!!

Calling all cheap bastards out there!!!

There is another woot off happening right now. If you don't know what woot is, it is a cool site to find gadgets on the cheap. Sometimes it's stuff that's brand new out of the box, and sometimes it's refurbished. Normally they only offer one item per day, but with a woot off, they will sell out one item and post another right after (only for today).

So get to it!!!

[Update: Woot is selling a new first gen Zune for a $100. Not a bad deal considering that you'll be able to get all the same features that the Zune 2 will have, with a software update.]

Refurbished iphone's At Apple Store

Mac Chick Of The Month

You want an iphone, but you think that Jobs is trying to pants you with the $600 price tag. No matter how cool the phone is, you just know in your heart that it's just over hyped overpriced.

Well Apple might have something for you.

Apple has released the refurbished iPhones in both 4GB and 8GB models, and for a $100 less than the original cost. At $399 the 4GB is very appealing, and Apple's refurbished items are usually better than some companies new stuff. Good deal.

But I'm still going to wait out the iphone version 2.0.

Virgin Airlines Shows You How It Should Be Done

If you've done any kind of flying, you know that most airlines are a big suck fest that should be put out of its misery (American, Delta).

Well Boing Boing’s Xeni Jardin had a chance to fly on Virgin Airlines inaugural flight, and his write up on the trip is very interesting. According to Doug Asmoth of Crunchgear, not only do they have low airfare (SF to NY for $278), but also "WiFi access, super comfortable seats, touchscreen infotainment systems built into every headrest, Doom (!), Google Maps, Linux, movies, TV, and soft lighting".

When was the last flight you've taken that you had all of that? Never? Because no one else offers that.

If Virgin starts to work out of all major cities and offers that kind of service on all their flights, bye bye crappy ass airlines!!!

Budget GeForce 8400 GS Coming in Two Weeks

Looking for some DirectX 10 but don't have the big money to throw down on a Uber graphics card?

The guys at ExtremeTech are claiming Nvidia will release a sub $100 GeForce 8400 card on the June 19th, and It'll come in 256MB ($79) and 128MB ($50) flavors.

The cards will be clocked at 450MHz with a 400MHz memory clock. They'll have HDCP support, but no HDMI (naturally at that price point). Either card you get will be a good deal so long as you're not a heavy gamer.

Read the rest after the jump. [VR-Zone]
