Infographic: BlackBerry PlayBook vs. Dell Streak 7 vs. Apple iPad vs. Motorola Xoom

After our in-depth Droid Bionic vs. iPhone 4 vs. Thunderbolt infographic that made its way across the web, we could not resist making another. Tablets absolutely stole the spotlight at CES 2011, making it an undoubtedly perfect time to compare the latest offerings. After some debate, we settled on these three upcoming tablets: the BlackBerry PlayBook, the Dell Streak 7, and the Motorola Xoom. For some perspective with a familiar face, we threw in the Apple iPad for reference. Even though the hardware is nearly a year old, it has butchered competition selling over 7.33 million units in just Q4 of 2010 making it the best-selling tablet on the market.

The picture is quite long and in depth.  Click on it to see full image.

New Amazon Kindle Ad Goes After The iPad

Forgive me for finding this funny... But with Apple's 'I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC' ad campaign that never seemed to end, it's very ironic how other companies are going after Apple now. It fun to throw rocks at the big guy, and it's worked for Apple vs. Microsoft for so long that it became a crutch for them.

Now that Apple IS the big guy when it comes to cell phones and e-readers, the stones are flying at Apple so fast they can hardly duck fast enough. Case in point is the new Kindle ad that goes after the iPad price point and its inability to be viewed in sunlight very well. To be fair, Apple could easily come back with how Kindle can't be viewed in the dark, or that all you can use it for IS an e-reader.

But it is still fun to see Apple wear the other shoe for a change...

Netfilx App Comes To iPhone

Netflix has slowly and successfully sunk its teeth into me with a great business plan from day one. Not only have they backed the once king of the rentals Blockbuster into a corner, but has taken how we view content to a whole new level. From the rent as long as you like model, to streaming instantaneously to your TV, to now streaming directly to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad anywhere you are.

With the release of the new iPhone app today, Netflix has continued to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to content distribution methods. So now if you have a long train commute, you can fire up those 'Dexter' shows that you've wanted to catch up on. The best part of all this is that you're not confined to only Wi-Fi with this app, and can stream directly over 3G (which now that I think about it may not be that great after all).

Oh well, I'm going to tax AT&T's weak network even more with this new toy!!!

Why So Serious? Joker iPad

I'm not a big fan of the iPad simply because I really don't have a lot of use for it. But this $16 vinyl iPad sticker of the Joker just speaks to me, and says "yes, you are crazy for buying me".

I so want one!!!

The New iPad!!! So...That's It?!!!

So I'm trying to get my head around Apple's newest addition to their family, the iPad. I think the problem is that I'm not sure how necessary it was, as the functionality isn't anything new. What I mean by that is other than how large it is, how is this product any different than a iPod or iPhone? There is no multi-tasking (which is desperately needed on the iPhone), no camera, no USB support, no HDMI output, and it is isolated to a closed app ecosystem.

Want to run another web browser other than Safari? Too bad!!!

So this is clearly not a Macbook that's a tablet..... It is more like a giant iPod that has some newer functionality. And lets not talk about how you're going to have to type on this thing. Unless you're sitting with your legs together, it doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this.

Yes it does seem like a cool new e-reader but at a $500 starting point, I'm just not sure I would go down that road.

If the iPad had the functionality of a Macbook, then I would be on-board screaming and clapping with the other rabid Mac heads. And perhaps the next iPad v2 will address all the issues that I'm having right now.

But for now....... It's a big ass iPod!!!!
