Original Zune Getting Zune 2 Features: Now That's How You Do It!

I think Microsoft might be finally getting it, or at least learning from mistakes that their competitors have made.

With the launch of the new Zune 2, Microsoft introduces a few new features for the player that the original didn't have. Features such as Wi-Fi syncing, new codecs, updated sharing features, podcasts, and Windows Media Center TV on the go. Nothing super ground breaking, but what is cool about this is that all of those new features will be available for the original Zune via software download.

That's right!! Microsoft is rewarding its early adopters by giving them the same features as the new Zune 2. The only difference is that the newer Zune 2 are thinner and have more storage capacity (4GB, 8GB, 30GB or the 80GB which comes with premium headsets). Way to continue to support your old hardware Microsoft, that's the way it should be done. Just how many features have the ipod introduced that could've been given to the older versions via firmware upgrade?

Hello Apple? I think we've found an idea that you can steal from Microsoft.

A ipod Touch Shipped Without OS X

This is pretty cool... You shell out your $400 for a brand new ipod 'touch', you get it home and crack it open only to find out that Apple forgot to load the OS on the thing. I'm thinking that I would be pissed, and that's just what happened to this guy.

But something interesting popped up during the whole thing, the icons that are activated and not activated in the unit are displayed. Cheerios for the serial number, very clever Apple. But the one that is the most interesting is the Bluetooth icon that is not active. This proves that they shipped the ipod with Bluetooth capability, and perhapses can be activated with a firmware upgrade. I'm sure there's a hacker or two out there that's more than up to the task.

If I was this guy I would have this on Ebay ASAP!!!

Germany Gets iphone Deal Done

More iphone news for our friends across the pond!!!

Reuters has confirmed that Apple has reached an agreement with Deutsche Telekom to sell the iphone in Germany. The cost for the Jesus phone will be 399 euros ($554), which is obviously higher than the iphone in the states. But it's possible that the higher cost is due to the 3G that the iphone is rumored to have.

Well shall see soon.

iphone Screen Better Than ipod Touch?

When the new ipod 'Touch' was announced, it was assumed that it was like the iphone, but just without the phone part.

Well the guys at Gizmodo are discovering that this may not be the case. After doing some testing on their part, they discovered that the black areas on the ipod are washed gray and not as defined as the iphone. Take a look at the girls hair above as an example, the top image is the touch ipod.

There are more pictures to verify this after the jump, but this would be a little disappointing if it turns out to be the truth.

New ipod Has Bluetooth?

Does the new ipod Touch have Bluetooth?

Well if you look very closely on the right hand side, you might be able to make out the symbol. I hope that this is the case, because there are a lot of nice Bluetooth headsets waiting for a good MP3 player to come along.

We'll see in a few weeks.

The New ipod 'Touch'

Ladies and Gentlemen................ The new ipod 'Touch', the 6 Generation ipod has blessed us with its first appearance. It looks like the iphone only without the phone part, and comes with 22 hours of audio playback and 5 hours for video. It has a 3.5 inch widescreen with multi-touch for beautiful video and cover flow (like the iphone), built-in WiFi. 802.11b/g, Safari for web browsing, and comes in 8GB for $299 and 16GB for $399.

This thing is bad as hell, but that's a lot of money for only 8GB and 16GB.

Where's the rest of my GB Steve????

Thanks to Crunchgear for this information.

Apple Event Details Revealed

As we come closer to Apple's Wednesday Event, more rumors are starting to surface. Some just seem to confirm stories that we already know. So the guys at 'Digitimes.com' who state that the new ipod will have widescreen, WiFi and touch screen UI simular to the iphone, and will be significantly slimmer due to a flash-based memory.

Of course the ipod nano will be revamped, and have a similar UI as the iphone and increased memory. How much they will be is not known yet, but I'm sure we'll find out on Wednesday.

New Apple ipod Rumors

Oh... how I love Apple rumors!!! They are so tasty and delicious, and usually have some truth behind them.

This one is about the upcoming ipod, in which Apple may be having a party for next month. And rumor has it that there have been sightings of the ipod in Asia factories of the full-screen touch iPods. A full-screen touch ipod similar to the iphone, just without the phone. It's also rumored that it will be getting an overhaul on the UI, and going to the OS X interface that is similar to the iphone. The familiar menu pattern will be replaced by Coverflow, which is cool, but as Crunchgear points out, not all albums and songs have covers. But I'm sure Apple has an answer for that issue.

Looks like Apple is gearing up for the upcoming holiday season.

Stay tuned for more info. [Crunchgear]

The New 6G ipod U.I.?

With the new 6 generation ipod due out next month, some details of the U.I. has leaked out. You have to take this with a serious grain of salt, because there are a lot of reasons that this might not be real. For one, Apple usually doesn't have a leak of an O.S. of any kind before they're ready, but I have to admit, it does look good enough to be legit.

You decide.
