iPhoned It In

I saw this comic on Dueling Analogs and thought it was spot on.  I love my iPhone, but it does spark a lot of fanaticism and fanboyism.  I just could never get into the Wii, it seemed too gimmicky.  I will admit that it is fun at parties, but so is charades and you’d never catch me playing that by myself.  LOL

How I Lost My S#?! at the Apple Store

I thought this was hilarious.

Dougan wanted to install an Airport Card in his wife's MacBook. He realized that a normal screwdriver wouldn't open the case to allow him to do so. A Google search would have shown him that he required a Torx Wrench #8. He did not make a Google search. Instead, he made a fool out of himself in the Apple Store, yelling and screaming at the Genius Bar employees. He was clearly in the wrong, but to make himself feel better and get internet sympathy, he made a comic about his experience.

Really dude, I know it must have been annoying to see the wrench you needed behind the Genius Bar, but when they say they can't let you repair your own stuff at the bar for liability issues, they aren't just messing with you. They'd lose their jobs.

I know the comic would have been way more boring if you had Googled, ordered the wrench and then made a legit complaint about the non-standard screws on the MacBook, but then again you also wouldn't have made a spectacle of yourself in public.

PS3 Update 2.40

Hehe, I saw this on Ctrl+Al+Del and just had to giggle a little bit about it. I just realized that since I've gotten my PS3, I've still played Boogie Bunnies more than I've used the PS3 in total. I am gonna give the Orange Box a try before this coming weekend is over. And the controls for NCAA 2009 just don't seem as intuitive and responsive as the 360 version. Maybe I just have to get used to PlayStation controllers again (will they ever make a controller for a man sized hand?)

Gaming worse than porn

I read this article earlier, and laughed my ass off. Then Woody from GU Comics did this comic and I laughed even harder.

[from GU Comics]
In an interview with the Boston Globe, MMO psychiatrist, Dr. Jerald Block, revealeded that computer gamers tend to be harder to treat because they express a deeper level of shame than those who find themselves drawn to porn. Block went on to explain that "as a society we understand that porn is something people do... but gaming is hard to describe to anyone else". Source: Boston Globe [ more info ]

Initially, I had my skeptical pants pulled up nipple high, old man style. But reading Dr. Block's responses it became apparent that he's addressing a real issue some people face rather than just lumping us all into a inescapably dysfunctional group where "addiction" is part and parcel to the activity. He doesn't even like the word addiction, opting instead to use the term "pathological computer use".

Isn't it nice to see how that deftly shifts the blame from the individual to the condition?

I'll tell you this much about being a gamer though... If you can't raid Kil'Jaeden WHILE watching clown porn in a gimp suit, you're not a real gamer. **grins**

Putting the spin on Lair reviews

I thought this was particularly funny since I had been reading the reviews and made the post earlier about the mostly horrible reviews for Lair for PS3. Just think about all the times in the past when you've seen ads in magazines with all these great review quotes, then you look at the review and it gives it a failing grade. Gotta love spin doctoring.

I can't wait for the movie

Before I told you guys about this great fantasy/rpg webcomic called Looking For Group.
If you haven't checked it out yet, go to the website and read the first few pages in the archive. That'll give you background for this musical video. This is the kind of comic that if made into an anime/cartoon show that would be perfect for [adult swim].
And these guys have another great comic called Least I Could Do.
