Marvel Goes On-line

Marvel comics has made history by becoming the first major comic book distributer to offer their vast library on-line.

That's right!

For the low price of $9.99 a month, you can catch up on all the thousands of issues Marvel has, that are 6 months or older. Or you can commit to a full year that breaks down to $4.99 a month, which is a good deal. Marvel has figured that if you're going to invest in seeing the movies that they're releasing, it might help to read about what came before. And they know that most people don't have the cash or time to comic book collect. I'm sure other comic book houses will follow this trend.

So go forth, and check it out my friends.

'Angel' Gets The Buffy Treatment

Joss Wheaton's very popular comic book series 'Buffy: Season Eight' has been huge for the comic book house 'Dark Horse'. Well they just announced that the Spin off for the TV series of Buffy will get the same for the comic book series. 'Angel' will have its own comic starting with 'Angel: Season Six', picking up where the TV series left off.

The comic isn't due to be released until November. But the site aintitcool.com has gotten the first 5 pages, so if you're a fan of the series like I was, you might want to check it out.

Wizard Comic Conventions

If you're a fan of Comics and live in the Chicagoland area, World of Wizard will have their version of Comic-Con August 10th - August 12th. They will also be in the Texas (no word on where) November 16th - 18th. While Texas gets plenty of great artists, the Chicago convention will get Tricia Helfer from the hit show Battlestar Galactica.

I'm glad I live in Chicago!

Seth Rogen May Be The Green Hornet?

If you saw the movie 'Knocked up & the 40 year old virgin you know who Seth Rogen is. The only reason that I bring him up is that he is in final negotiations to write and star in the 'Green Hornet' for Columbia Pictures.

For those of you who don't know who the Green Hornet' is, here is a little background.

"GBrit Reid, a wealthy publisher of The Daily Sentinel by day, Reid roams as a masked crime fighter by night, dedicated to protecting the lives and rights of the city's citizens. Reid is accompanied by Kato, a chauffeur-bodyguard-personal assistant during business hours who transforms into a masked sidekick with a knack for martial arts when the sun goes down. The two cruise around town in a dark sedan known as the Black Beauty."

Now I know that I'm not the biggest 'Green Hornet' fan, but I do know that the hero was in shape, this guy is boarder line fat. I know in Hollywood it is all the rage to turn comic book characters into movies, but usually the casting is a little better than this.

Wow.

The return of Heroes

One of the best new shows returns back to the air on Monday 4/23. And considering how lackluster this season of '24' has been, it is a welcomed return. Heroes has become a big hit, with some of the best writing of any show that I've seen. The plot is not centered around one or two characters, but around as many as 10. The writers have masterfully woven 8 different story lines into 1, that all come together to tell a great comic book style tale.

I don't want to give too much away, but if you're interested in seeing all the episodes from the beginning; check it out here.

This show has my highest recommendation.
