MacBook & MacBook Pro Make Debut

Apple hit the ground running with the announcement of the new MacBook and the MacBook Pro models. What is a little strange is that they’re only offering one size for both models, a 13-inch for the MacBook and a 15-inch for the MacBook Pro. The Pro has a two tone look now with the silver body style and black keyboard. Intel powers the Pro with a Core 2 Duo CPU, but NVIDIA takes over the graphics with two different options, the GeForce 9400M and the 9600M GT. The memory is set at 2GB 1066 MHz DDR3 with a 250GB Hard Drive, and a Slot-loading SuperDrive.

All this can be yours for only $1999!!!

But wait, there’s more! You can have the 4GBs of RAM, along with the 2.53 Core 2 Duo Processor for the low price of $2499. The MacBook also sports the two tone look and has an Intel Core 2 Duo with NVIDIA powering it with 9400M GPU. The 13-inch model comes with a 320GB HD, 2GB of RAM and a backlit keyboard which is very cool. The base MacBook is going to set you back $1299 for the 2GHz option, but you can upgrade to the 4GBs of RAM for only $1599.

Cow Bell Deals: $96 4GB Of Ram For MacBook, MacBook Pro

If you've picked up a new MacBook or MacBook Pro, you might want to take advantage of this sweet deal. If you want 4GB of RAM from Apple, you would have to pony up $400, but OWC will kick it to you for only $96.

Think that's a good deal?

OWC will knock another $20 off the sweet deal if you send back in the stock 2GB that came with your machine.

You just can't beat that with a stick.

MacBook Pro Runs Vista Faster... Until Phantom-X

You knew that this was going to happen, it was just a matter of time. It seems that the commercials for how the MacBook Pro runs Windows Vista faster than any other laptop is going to be short lived. Seem that PC World never tested a laptop that was faster than the MacBook Pro, and it wasn't until weeks later that they tested the Eurocom D900C Phantom-X, which blew the MacBook Pro out of the water by a wide margin. I'm curious to see if Apple will now stop showing their commercial now.

Ya see, benchmarks rarely last very long, and it certainly doesn't go well when they haven't tested other laptops that are faster.

That was dumb.

Fastest Windows Vista Notebook: Macbook Pro

There is something just kinda wrong about this, but apparently the fastest Windows Vista notebook is on a Macbook Pro. Yeah I know, it made me throw up a little in my mouth to when I heard about it. But the guys at PC World tested it, and the WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats the Gateway's E-265M by one point.

So if you're looking to run Vista super fast and smooth, buy a Macbook Pro?
Man I can't even say it with a straight face!

Apple Keyboard Malfunctioning?

It looks as though a few people who have the new Apple keyboard are having trouble. Notably with the F3 and F4 function keys, these are for the Expose and Dashboard functions.

But there seems to be a work around.

If you have a new Apple keyboard and are having trouble, let us know what kind in the comments area.

Rumormill: Macbook Pro 12inch Ultraportable?

The Apple rumor mill is running again with talks about an ultra portable 12inch Macbook. The thing is that this has been talked about since 2006, so you have to take this one with a grain of salt. But trusted sources informed MacScoop from MacDailynewsthat the new Macbook will be the lightest Apple notebook ever, weighing less than 3 pounds and a thickness of 0.6 or 0.7 inches.

It's rumored to be out by the end of the year.

NewerTech Releases First MacBook/MacBook Pro Battery Charger Ever

The problem with buying extra batteries for any laptop is that you could only charge them inside the laptops themselves. And if you're on an extended business trip, you have to wake up in the middle of the night just to swap the battery out. Not very efficient.

Well if you have a Macbook or a Macbook Pro, you can sleep soundly through the entire night and wake up with two refreshed batteries in the morning.

With NewerTech's MacBook and MacBok Pro battery charger, you can charge two batteries at once. The charger has two slots, one that chargers and conditions and the other just charges, and will work on both stock and aftermarket MacBook/MacBook Pro batteries.

At a price of $149, it's not cheap, but definitely worth the price if you need it.

Major in Mac: kinda cool

I have to give it to Apple, they have some pretty good promotions. The 'Major in Mac' promotion is underway, and it looks like a good one.

Eligible students, faulty, staff, etc. who buy a Mac will get a $200 rebate toward the purchase of a 4GB or 8GB iPod nano. You have to buy the Mac from Apple directly or from one of its retail stores or BestBuy, and the like-purchased Mac don’t qualify for the promotion. Major in Mac ends on September 16.

Hmm, how ’bout a shiny new MacBook Pro and black iPod nano? Then you’ll be the koolest kid on campus…
