Where was this game in the 80’s?

Space ParanoidsIf all you know about "Tron" is the flashy trailer from this year's sequel, you owe it to yourself to Netflix the original. Despite being somewhat campy, the movie heralded a new age of computer graphics and paved the way for movies like "Avatar."

If you have seen the original, you'd know that there are a number of arcade games featured in it which don't actually exist in the real world. One of the most popular games in the "Tron" universe, created by noted game designer, Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges in both the original and the sequel), is "Space Paranoids." And while I didn't really remember what the game looked like in the film, I definitely remembered the squared-off tank-looking enemies that provide nice cannon fodder.

So when I saw that the original publisher of "Space Paranoids" in the movie, Encom, released a web-based version of the game, I couldn't help but get my nostalgia on. And you can too! For a browser-based marketing stunt, it's not half bad.

New Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Trailer

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the most enjoyable FPS that I’ve ever played, and in an era of Halo 3’s and Killzone 2’s, that is saying a lot. Well the full trailer for the new Modern Warfare 2 was premiered during the NBA playoffs this weekend.

And after viewing it, I have to say one thing…….. This game is bought!!!!

Great deal from Steam

Capture

Steam has a great bargain for those of you that remember the classics.  They have all 5 games in the X-Com series for the low, low price of only $4.99.  That’s less than a dollar a game.  What a bargain.  I know that I own the first 2 X-Com games, but I don’t even have a floppy drive any more so I couldn’t reload the game if I wanted to.  These are probably the perfect games to add to a laptop, like I’m about to do.

Ghostbusters Videogame Trailer, I'm Shockingly Hopeful

With a movie like this, the videogame has a high probability to suck ass. But I must admit that it looks very good, so far as game trailers go.

Ghostbusters is due out June of 2009.

I Am Alive

Ubisoft has officially announced I Am Alive, a new adventure that forces players to "think, react and take risks that will directly affect themselves and those around them" as they navigate a Chicago "left in ruins." The game is currently targeted for release on "current generation video game consoles" during Spring 2009. Not much else is known about the title, though earlier reports suggested that Assassin's Creed producer, Jade Raymond, would be taking the reins of this disaster game. [via Joystiq]

Dream Arcade system

If an arcade system that features a 120-inch screen, 145 pre-installed classic games, a free Wii adaptor, and two-player control panel with numerous buttons, a spinner, and a lighted trackball doesn't give you a tickle in your pants, nothing will. On the other hand, the $4000 price tag may leave the average gamer a little unsatisfied. Additional pic and info after the jump.
If you do have the means, you will also have the high-output DLP projector with a 2000:1 contrast ratio and a native resolution of 1024 x 768 (1400 X 1050 max) to enjoy. There is also some decent power under the hood with the whole thing running on a "high-end PC" with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ . Wow, it sucks being poor.

I hope they decide to sell kits for this, then at least it would be affordable.

The Last Starfighter Arcade Game

If you remember actually going to the video game arcade, instead of having a gaming console, you might remember the movie "The Last Starfighter". This 1984 movie was very hoke, but was fun none the less. What I didn't know is that Atari at the time was planning to release a game based off of the movie, and had actually had a polished working game. But it never made it to the arcade.

Well thanks to a very dedicated cabinet designer, who refurbished a beautiful "The Last Starfighter" machine. The best thing about it is that you can download the game that is used in the game cabinet, free of charge.

'BioShock' Xbox Live Demo

Since the release of the demo for 'BioShock' on Xbox Live, users have been having issues downloading, and other things that suck while trying to get in on a new game (see Halo 3).

Well G4TV was nice enough to put together 24 minutes of the demo for you to see, if you can't download it, or don't have a Xbox 360 to download to. This looks to be a remarkable game, and the demo below shows why. The video comes in 3 parts, and oh yeah..... Spoilers galore.
