District 9 – New Promo Trailer

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world.

The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens’ welfare – they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens’ awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus, that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable – he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

First Trailer: The New “V” Series Hits The Net

I know that I’m dating myself, but I was a big fan of the “V” series back in the 80’s when I was a kid. So I’m somewhat intrigued with the remake someone at ABC thought needed to happen. The first trailing has made its way to our front door, so let me know what you think.

I have to say that I’m looking forward to the first Chinchilla chow down that’s bound to happen!!!

This may be next Sci-Fi cult classic

This trailer looks very promising.
  Preest is a masked vigilante detective, searching for his nemesis on the streets of Meanwhile City, a monolithic fantasy metropolis ruthlessly governed by faith and religious fervor. Esser is a broken man, searching for his wayward son amongst the rough streets of London's homeless. Milo is a heartbroken thirty-something desperately trying to find a way back to the purity of first love. Emilia is a beautiful art student; her suicidal art projects are becoming increasingly more complex and deadly.
I hope they get a release date soon in the US for this one, since Watchmen may be delayed.

New Trailer For "The Mist"

If you've ever read the Steven King novella "The Mist" which was one of the short stories in "Dark Forces", you're familiar with the gruesome sci-fi/horror story. "The Mist" is said to be a partial inspiration for Valve Software's Half-Life video game series.

Well take a look at the newest trailer for the upcoming movie.

BABYLON 5 Trailer: Good stuff

About 10 years ago I stumbled upon a show that changed the way I viewed all other Sci-Fi shows. As you may or may not know I'm a huge Star Trek fan. But some of the shows that followed Star Trek TNG and Deep space 9 were kind of lacking.

But Babylon 5 restored my faith in weekly Sci-Fi shows and took it to another level entirely. I had never watched a TV show that the writer had already written all 5 seasons from day one. Which made the show have a beginning, middle, and end that was all tied together. There were very few 'filler' shows and every episode moved the story along. And the series finale did not disappoint, with an emotional conclusion that any show would kill to have.

10 years later, Babylon 5 returns with a direct-to-DVD movie on July 24th titled 'The Lost Tales', and its trailer apparently warped onto the Internet. If you like Sci-fi shows, I cannot recommend this series any higher.

Re-shoots for 'Blade Runner' for 25th Anniversary

I've never liked remakes of movies. They rarely turn out to be as good as the first one, and most of the time they usually suck. But I've never seen a 're-shoot' of a movie that's 25 years old. Especially a movie that most Sci-Fi fans consider a classic and way ahead of it's time.

I'm not quite sure why Ridley Scott would want to re-shoot Blade Runner, even for the anniversary of the movie. But Actress Joanna Cassidy, who played the replicant Zhora in the movie has just confirmed that she and Scott reshot all of her scenes, using the original costume, which she just happened to have hanging in her closet.

I like some of what Ridley Scott has done, like Gladiator and the first Alien movie. But if he wants to re-shoot a movie, why not start with the dogs that he's made like Hannibal or G.I Jane?

Why play with a movie that most people liked?
What exactly does he think needs to be added to this film?
