Driving And Texting In Phoenix = Ticket

Well if you're planing to drive through Phoenix anytime soon, you better not text message while doing it. The Phoenix City Council made it illegal to text message while driving within their city limits. Drivers cannot send or read text messages while operating a vehicle, or face a citation for doing so. The first ticket was issued on November 5th, and the city hopes that this will be a deterrent to texters and hopefully prevent more accidents.

Yeah right!

UK Gives Hard Time For Texting While Driving

Man those Brits don't play around when it comes to driving and texting!!!

Currently the penalty for using a cell phone and driving is three points put on your license and a fee of at least £60, which is about $122 U.S. But law makers are trying to up that ante, by drafting legislation that would require anyone convicted of "dangerous driving" (driving in a potentially lethal fashion while using distracting devices) will serve two years in jail.

Not an accident caused by "dangerous driving", but just getting caught driving while texting! I know that I would be doing hard time in the UK, that's for sure.

Don't text and drive in Washington

Although NJ was the first state to ban cell phone use while driving, Washington is smart enough to realize that plenty of people still text while they drive. Now in an effort to curb accidents caused by cell phone use, Washington has made it illegal to operate a cellphone while driving.

It's only a secondary offense, which means that if the 'po po' can only give you a ticket if they pulled you over for another reason, such as speeding.

The price to pay for texting Dave about how waisted you got last night is $101 per offense. So hide the phone the next time you get pulled over and you should be good to go. The new law is in effect so drive safe.
