Xbox 360 Price Cuts Coming To Japan

Lets face it!!!

The Xbox 360 has been a disaster as far as sales go in Japan. With the Wii dominating the market and the PS3 a distant second, Microsoft is responding with the one thing that works here in the U.S., price cuts. With the price cuts of the PS3, Microsoft is following suit with a 13% price cut starting on November 1. The 20GB model is selling for 39,795 yen ($348) and will drop to 34,800 yen ($304). Microsoft will also drop the price of the core system from 29,800 yen ($261) to 27,800 yen ($243), and will offer a bundle pack for the premium system with Viva PiƱata and Forza Motorsport 2 included.

Not sure if this is enough to help the system in Japan, as the Japanese taste in games are somewhat different than the U.S.. I think if they really want to make more of a splash, they should look at the games that are being played in Japan. The Final Fantasies and Zelda games of the world are what seems to be the biggest draw, so maybe Microsoft needs to find their strange Zelda Fantasy XX game.

Cheaper 40GB PS3 Due Next Month

It looks like Sony is confirming the worst kept secret in console history with the announcement of the 40GB Playstation 3. The new PS3 is set to drop on November 2 at the price point of $400, which will be the lowest cost of any of the PS3. Also there will be a price drop for the 80GB model from $600 to $500, which is effective immediately.

Now the console wars should start to get interesting!!!

Apple Cuts Prices On DRM-Free Music

Apple has gone on another slashing spree, this time with the DRM-Free songs on iTunes. In what was sure prompted by the Universal and Amazon.com moves, Apple has cut the prices from $1.29 to $.99. You rarely see Apple react to other companies moves, but this was a smart move on their part.

Now there is no reason to purchase any music that contains DRM from Apple, and I would hope that DRM goes the way of the gremlin.

Microsoft Cuts Price of Zune: And No One Cares

In an effort to head off all of this Apple media hype, Microsoft announced that they will be dropping the 30GB Zune to $199. Microsoft said that the $50 price drop was planed for months now, and they just waited until today to drop the news.

Way to go Microsoft!!!

You really upstaged Apple today with that one!!!

Circuit City Ad Confirmes Price Drop On All Xbox 360s

As quick as I can report these changes, another one comes down with different information, as is the case with the Xbox 360 core system.

Circuit City ad that has surfaced is showing the price cuts for not only the Premium edition, but for the Elite, and the Core system as well. The Elite will get a $30 cut and price at $449.99, the Premium drops to $349.99, and the Core comes in at $279.99 after the $20 price break.

Weather or not Microsoft plans on phasing the Core system out is still up in the air. I'm sure that we will be finding out soon.

Of Course this is all still rumors. But if you want to read more check it out here. [Joystiq via Crunchgear]

Xbox 360 Price Drop August 8th?

If you've been wanting the Xbox 360, but it was just a little out of your price range, then the wait is almost over for you my friend. Microsoft is rumored to be dropping the price of the 360 on August 8th, with no word of how much.

I'm thinking $50

But no word if this will be a price cut on all three Xbox 360 versions, but I would think it would only make sense. Microsoft will not confirm the price drop, but it makes sense considering that games like Madden NFL '08 and Bioshock will be released the following week.

Guess with the PS3 having a surge in sales from there price drop (135%), Microsoft is hoping to get in on that.

I wonder if this will push fence sitters one way or another.

Another PS3 Price Cut?

Capcom, the makers of the games that you love like Resident Evil, are making a bold prediction. Chief Financial Officer of Capcom Kazuhiko Abe stated that the price of the PS3 is likely to be cut once again. Check the quote:

"...the price has been cut once and it is likely to be cut again towards the end of the year. I expect the (PS3's) installed base to grow gradually."

Oh boy... Another price cut by Christmas? I wonder by how much? $50 or $100?
If they get it down to $399 and come through with all the games that they're promising, they could be players in the console game again.

Sony Cutting Price Off Another Playstation

Looks like Microsoft isn't the only one cutting the fat from one of their game platforms. Reports are that Sony is working on cutting down the size and price of the PS2, and the game console will only weigh 1/3 of the old PS2.

While the external frame will remain the same, it will allow Sony to offer the PS2 at even a lower price.

I have to admit that I love my PS2, and it has to be one of the best game systems ever.

Target Cutting Price On PS3?

Kotaku is reporting that some Target stores are breaking the July 12 price brake date for the PS3, and selling them for $499 right now. They confirmed with Target locations in Bend, Oregon and Beavercreek, Ohio that they are indeed selling at that price.

But other Target stores were contacted and were still selling at the old price of $599. Obviously, this isn't a nation wide price cut yet, so make sure you call your local Target store before making the trip.

Sony talks about PS3 price cuts again

Time and again, we hear news about a possible price drop for the PS3. Why do we keep hearing about it? Because that’s what the people want. Has Sony finally come to their senses and decided to drop the price? Not just yet.

We’ve heard a lot of different views on the price issue from various Sony execs in the past, however, the latest one comes from Sir Howard Stringer, chairman and CEO of Sony Corp. When he was asked about the PS3 price in a recent interview he responded with this. “That is what we are studying at the moment. That’s what we are trying to refine.”

What exactly does that mean? It means that they know people want them to drop the price, and they’re thinking about it. Go ahead and sit around and talk about what you think you should do. Sales have been in a slump for some time now while your competitors are consistently out-selling you every month. What’s worse is Microsoft is thinking about a price drop for the Xbox 360.

Maybe a price cut on the 360 would prompt them to come down a little in price.

Rumor: 360 Core $200

Mark this as extremely questionable, but Bloggingstocks.com says it's legit. The word on the street is that Microsoft is dropping the Xbox 360 core system to $200. That's right, a 360 for $50 less than a Wii.

Could be a good time to get a Xbox 360!!!
