Google a rainbow of tags

Google has just released a new mini-update to their GMail service. You can now select colored tags to help keep your email straight.

While it is not the jazziest upgrade to ever hit the email scene, it is certainly appreciated by slightly dyslexic, rushed, and tag-happy folks. The downside is that you must upgrade to IEv7 or Firefox 2. I can't upgrade to Firefox 7 at the office unilaterally, and I believe I'm already on the latest Firefox at home. In other words I'll be playing Googletag tonight.

Many times I just do a search instead of reading all of the tags on all of the emails for things I'm trying to find. With several hundred emails stored, it gets to be a chore, and I appreciate this thoughtful touch!

IMAP for GMail !!?!!1

I found this over on downloadsquad. Some email accounts on google's web mail service now have IMAP as an option. Not my account mind you......

What's the big deal? Well you know how you read stuff in Outlook or Thunderbird and go to Google's web portal again and those emails are not marked as read? That's because you can only use POP and it's a one-way street of data. IMAP fixes that - across all platforms. So for the JesusPhone users out there who are tired of sifting through already read emails on the web page, check your Settings tab on your Gmail account.

So be patient grasshopper. It's coming. Now go have a cookie.

BigString: Drunk Emailers Rejoice

Have you ever sent one of those emails that you wished you could 'blow up' once you sent it? You know, the one you sent to your boss telling them what they can do with there deadline!

Look, I'm not gonna get political here; but I just read the TOP Story breaking about Karl Rove and missing E-Mails that maybe could shed new light on the Controversy du Jure about the firing of Eight prosecutors; and I came upon this juicy yet sickening information:

"A White House review showed up to 5 million e-mails to and from as many as 1,700 executive branch employees might have been lost when the administration converted from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook in 2002 and 2003."

This isn't a democrat or republican thing to my knowledge; but who the hell is our Government getting IT advice from?? LOTUS NOTES??? Our Country's MEGA important secrets were believed to be safe in LOTUS NOTES?!?!?! Good God?! I'm gonna go stick my head in the oven. I think it's gas...
