IBM today announced [arstechnica.com] that they are moving to a smaller, cooler, easier to produce die for the Cell chip that powers PS3 game consoles. This means less overhead for Sony, and hopefully they can make the gut check to bring the price down.
Or not. You never know with those guys.

Tilera Shows Off Their 64-Core Processor

Forget those punk-ass dual and quad-core processors out there, Chipmaker Tilera has developed a 64-core processor.
That's right, a 64-core processor!!!! Now that's just sick!!!
It has a bandwidth of something like 32TB per second and has a unique "mesh" architecture which allows each core to be decentralized an able to communicate more freely with other cores on its grid. Tilera thinks that this could be the beginning of hundreds or even thousands of cores using their new system.
Check more out here. [TG Daily via Engadget]
