New Trailer For “Resident Evil 5”

With E3 in full swing, tons of news and teaser trailers have hit the net. The latest is the controversial game “Resident Evil 5”, which has pissed a bunch of people off by having the lead character shooting black zombies. Never mind that the game is set in Africa, and previous games in the series have had other ethnic cultures as the antagonist. It’s just a game people, not a political or racial statement. I think we have bigger things to worry about in the black community than a silly game.
But what do I know; I’m just a black man writing on a blog.

Is 'Resident Evil 5' Trailer Racist?

Man, I had a feeling that this was coming when I first saw the trailer!

Kym Platt, activist/media analyst/blogger is furious over the trailer of the new game Resident Evil 5. Platt states that the trailer shown at this years E3 convention was "problematic on so many levels." According to Platt the trailer and game depicts black people as "inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people."

Resident Evil 5: Teaser Trailer

If you're a Resident Evil fan, I think I might have you attention now. The trailer for Resident Evil 5 has hit the net, and it looks like the action is taking place in Africa this time. The game is due out in 2008, and will be on the PS3 as well as the Xbox 360.
