VUDU Quakes in Boots; Drops Price at the Knees of Apple

Sorry folks, but even though VUDU was planning on domination of the living room; Apple has come out with AppleTV. What did this mean to the execs at VUDU? Rather than hold it's ground and find ways to technologically best AppleTV; they've dropped price. To the average consumer, this signals that VUDU is of lower quality thn the AppleTV and it couldn't stand it's ground.

I'm not saying that all price drops from startup companies are consessions that their quality is less than adeqaute compared to a better known brand which is throwing a new entry into the startup's arena where they've never competed before; but VUDU is just flat out kneeling at the alter of Apple. For pete's sake, mix it up a little before you make your own product look like a cheaply made piece of shit.

They've impresed the customers they won over with the product they first released; they would have benifited from good word of mouth. Sure Apple nuts will automatically gravitate to AppleTV; but look at the PC world? Apple has a nice product; but they have well less than 10% of the market.

Dropping prices? Bad Move. For more info, click here; thanks to CrunchGear

Unconfirmed, The iPhone's 12th App Is YouTube

YouTube has been going crazy converting all their video to the H.264 codec.

Of course, Google claims doing all that work just so AppleTV owners can watch YouTube...which seems like a lot of work for such a small install base, especially when compared to the bajillions of online users watching YouTube in Flash.

Since Google Maps integration is already the premier offering of the iPhone, Apple is clearly comfortable with the prospect of promoting Google properties on the Jesus Phone.

New 160GB Apple TV a prelude to HD?

Apple resently started selling a 160gig AppleTV, which is about time!!!

But I'm wondering why the 160gigs? Why would you possibly need this much space in an Apple TV for, other than HD video? Which makes me think that the rumors that have surround AT&T and AppleTV have some basis.

AT&T and Apple are working on adding IPTV capabilities to the Apple TV beginning sometime next year. With the hopes of HDTV coming with the IPTV, Apple may have increase the storage capacity of the AppleTV.

Lets keep out fingers crossed.

Ziova CS505 : Better than AppleTV?

This DVD player does a little something that most do not. Not only will it allow you to watch burned Divx movies on DVD, it also will stream it from your computer directly to your TV. No need to burn a DVD beforehand, the ultimate in convenience.

Although the AppleTV and the Ziova CS505 can both stream from your computer to your TV, they're in totally different classes. The AppleTV is for playing back movies and stuff purchased from itunes (unless you encode it). The Ziova is for every other non-Apple format that you what to stream without encoding again.

This thing plays everything.

There's DivX, of course, plus "Windows Media Video 9, XviD, Nero Digital™, MPEG-4, QuickTime MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MPEG-1, DVD and other formats." Audio support isn't taking a nap either, with FLAC, OGG, AAC, MP3, WM9, CD and many others.

It's not as sexy looking, but this may truly be better than the AppleTV.
