New Photo Of "Predalien" Hits The Net

A new photo and interview from the movie "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" has made it on line courtesy of USA Today, and it looks like a Predator had a run in with a face hugger. The "Predalien" is a hybrid of both Alien and Predator, and it looks kick ass. "Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" opens on Christmas Day 2007.

So the brothers plan to bring the new film back to its roots — namely, Ridley Scott's 1979 classic, Alien.

"That movie was dark. That movie used a lot of rain," Colin says. "And that movie was scary. We want it more like the classic early Alien and Predator movies we grew up on. There's a real history to these characters," says Colin, 31. "People grew up with these characters when it was a serious franchise. We want to make it just as serious and dark as the originals."

That means cutting back on computer-generated effects. In the first two Alien films, Scott and Cameron had six alien outfits. For this AVP, the brothers have just 12.

"You're not going to see 50 digital creatures running around," Greg says. "We want to bring the franchise back to basics. That's what made them so frightening in the first place."

Sounds like the brothers might have a good one on their hands. [Mania]

The first alien movie worked becaue amid all the crap on that ship, you never knew what was alien or what was ship or what was going to OhMyGawd his face got eaten!

More aliens is not more scarier. I've never thought that. Would a dozen Norman Bates have made Psycho scarier? Nope. Didn't think so.

The second Aliens movie also worked because it had a lot of dark scenes. I don't think that more Aliens will make it scarier, but the way they use them might.

That said, I am looking forward to this movie the more I hear about it.
