Xbox 360, PS3: Smackdown!!!

With the release of Madden '08 all hell has broken lose on the Xbox 360 and PS3 front. Because of the report from 'USA Today', stating the 360's version of Madden out performs the PS3's due to the 360 having twice the frame rate as the PS3. EA, the creator of the game had this statement:

“In designing a game, there are all sorts of tradeoffs that include frame rate, visuals, features, AI, etc. Football is an extremely challenging sport to replicate because of the number of people on the field, their interaction, and the scope of the environments. As you can see, every company making a football game this year made a decision that the best experience for the Xbox 360 included 60fps whereas the best experience for the PS3 was 30fps.”

Since it's a challenge to create games for the PS3, owners can expect delays in development in games. Some examples are Medal of Honor from Electronic Arts due on 8/28/07 for the 360, but November for the PS3. Skate is due out 9/12/07 for the 360 but 2 weeks later for the PS3; and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter II was released in March for the 360 but is due out 8/21/07 for the PS3.
