Apple Replacing iphones With "Dead Spots"

This doesn't seem to be a widespread issue, but according to Apple's support forums, some iphone owners are reporting "dead spots" on the iphone's screen. Mostly on the bottom part of the screen, but in some cases, all over the entire display.

Apple is being very proactive about this issue, and contacting the people who have posted these issues and replaced the iphone with a new one. Now that's customer service!!!

Why can't other companies take this approach with there products?
