Spidey is da Man in Asia....

Movies News:

Spider-Man 3 hit box office records in all 8 of the Asian areas. This Friday your friendly neighborhood webslinger opens in 4,253 theatres, making it the widest North American initial launch of ALL TIME!

Spidey opened in many countries on Tuesday including Japan, France, Germany and south Korea. Eight more countries open today. 30 more get their radioactive fix on Thursday, and another 30 on Friday.

Sony has estimated Spidey made $3.47 million in Japan on its opening day (415 million Yen), where Spidey 2 made 410 mill. Yen; Spidey 1 made a meagre 347 mill. Yen.

After last weeks box office lull where Disturbia didn't even make it into double figures (millions of dollars) movie execs are very excited. Only since 2004 have movies been opened in such large numbers. A small handful have reached that magic 4,000 theatres status.

Spidey 3 sees the fan boy's perhaps all time fave villain (bar the green goblin) debut: Venom. Venom first appeared in the comics during the "Secret Wars" saga. It will be interesting to see how far removed from the original origin of Venom and the movie version will be. Sam Raimi is a fanboy and has thus far been pretty faithful to the comic.

At around 150 minutes, longer than any of the prior Spidey films, will Raimi be able to sustain the excitement? Initial reports are the film may be overly long, but come Friday May the 4th, I and millions of other Americans will judge if Spidey is still no.1.....

Am I the only one who is wondering how Spiderman 3 got released in other countries before the U.S.?

I'm not saying that this is the center of the universe, but the movie was made here. I just thought they would give us first dibs on seeing it.

Where is my Spiderman 3?

Isn't this the picture of the Spiderman in the TV series from the 70's?
