NVIDIA's Three-Way SLI: Ass Kick'n, In The Wallet

If you're one of those guys who just has to have their computer run the fastest and at the highest frames per second, NVIDIA is here to help you wet your pants. NVIDIA not only makes kick-ass graphics cards but now they're linking them together, with the announcement of three-way SLI. That's right, now they've linked 3 GeForce 8800 GTX or 8800 Ultras to push your system over the edge, giving you 3 times the kick that a single card would.

And of course Alienware will put one all together for you with a overclocked quad-core, all for the low low price of $4999 for their Area-51 ALX SLI. Now I have to say that I'm a PC gamer at heart, but I have to say that I agree with Jason Chen from Gizmodo with this quote:

"when you need three SLI cards to run something on 'high' graphics (the way the developer intended), isn't that prohibitively expensive—especially compared with a PS3 or Xbox where you can just plug and go?"

It does get tiring when you have to upgrade your rig every 2 or 3 years just to play a good game. The game consoles upgrade every 5 to 7 years, which is much more reasonable.
