Blizzard: No 'StarCraft II' In 2007

For all of the Star Craft 2 fans that can't wait to play this cool looking, ass kicking game...... You're gonna have to wait a while.

StarCraft 2 won't be hitting the stores anytime soon, despite the fact that there has been a bunch of screenshots and some gameplay footage on the 'nets of late. According to Rob Pardo, VP of Game Design for Blizzard, there's no way that the sequel to the immensely popular 'StarCraft' will be ready before the end of 2007.

Of course, it's no secret that Bilzzard always takes an exceptionally long time in making sure their games are right before getting them out to market, but it seems a little unfair to tease us with gameplay footage for a long-awaited game that has no intention of coming out anytime in the near future. What we do know about 'StarCraft II' is that it will be in 3-D, and that a lot of attention has been paid to making the game look and react a lot better. Also, there will be a matchmaking system to allow people to play with gamers at a similar level to themselves.

What we don't know is when this thing will be out.

Blizzard Announces StarCraft 2

It looks like we will be returning once again to the world of StarCraft, and not in the form of a Massively Multiplayer game.

Blizzard has announced StarCraft 2 at their packed event in Seoul, South Korea. IGN is liveblogging the event, describing gameplay footage being played as well as full cinematics. From the description of ongoing events there are massive changes to the way the game plays, new units, a physics system within the game engine, and the capability to show over 100 units onscreen at a time.

This has been a long awaited game, and it has an fan base that will be hard to please. But judging from this trailer, Blizzard might just pull it off.

Check out the trailer after the jump.
