Sony announces PS3-related job cuts in US: How the mighty have fallen

Can't really say that I didn't see this coming!!!
Sony Computer Entertainment announced job cuts in the US, but failed to say how many or when. The move comes as Sony struggles to keep up with Nintendo which again snagged top-honors for the 4th consecutive month in the US market: 360,000 Wiis sold to the PS3's 82,000 while Microsoft sold 174,000 Xbox 360s.
Fortunately for Sony, their Bravia LCD TVs, VAIO computers, and Handycams are all doing well enough to (mostly) offset the PS3 related losses.

Sony: it was the games (or lack there of) fault

It wasn’t the $600 price point or the lack of systems at launch that kept Sony’s PlayStation 3 from becoming a smash hit.
Nope, it was the games!!!
That is according to Sony Computer Entertainment America anyway. The company is blaming poor sales of the PS3 on the media – or more accurately the lack of media. GameDaily is reporting that Sony is putting the blame on the lack of new software available this spring for their underperforming next generation console.
NPD Group numbers for April show that just 82,000 PS3s were sold in the U.S. But the Sony team remains optimistic with hopes that new games, including 15 exclusive titles, will be enough to turn things around for the PS3.
Hey Sony, a price cut wouldn’t hurt either!
