New Line Goes Exclusive To Blu-Ray

As another nail goes into the HD DVD coffin, New Line has confirmed in Variety Magazine that they will follow Warner Bros. and go exclusively to Blu-Ray. There are other film homes that could still go either way, but one would expect them to lean towards Blu-Ray now. With the thought of The Lord of The Rings Trilogy being in HD, this might be the pushing point for many consumers.

It's starting to look like there's only going to be one sheriff in this town.

Michael Bay To Paramount: No Transformers 2 For Me

Seems like Michael Bay, director of "Transformers," "Bad Boys," "Pear Harbor" ect.. is pissed off at Paramount. Since Paramount made the announcement that they would be exclusive to HD-DVD, Michael Bay had some choice words on his blog about the decision. Check out the quote below:

"Paramount pisses me off!", he states, "I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

So Mike isn't going to make Transformers 2 because he won't be able to pop it in his PS3? Some how I think he may change his mind.

Toshiba's VARDIA RD-A600 HD DVD recorder with 600GB disk

Toshiba has just unleashed their new HD-DVD/HHD hybrid called VARDIA, recorder in Japan. The 600GB RD-A600 and 300GB RD-A300 feature a pair of digital hi-vision HD tuners, Firewire, and HDMI and can write to HD DVD-R and DVD-RAM/R/RW media and of course to its hard disks.

It will cost more than its $199.99 brothers out there, as much as ¥200,000 (about $1,643) for the RD-A600 model when these start shipping to the states later in the year.
