Not So Wii: Outselling PS3 6 to 1

As the Nintendo Wii continues its dominate reign over Japan, Sony is trying to figure out why its unit is being out sold by 6 to 1. This comes to no surprise to me due to the price point that the PS3 is being sold for. But with the iphone priced similarly and it having such a strong selling push, it goes to show that people will pay for technology that is good.

So what does that say about the PS3?

Well I know that comparing iphones to PS3 isn't exactly fair, but it shows that Apple put out a product that people were 1) happy to pay $600 for and 2) happy to use it right now, not when applications or games were available later in the year. True the Wii has a gimmick with the controller, but it didn't price itself out of the market nor not have games at its release.

Will the PS3 make a comeback with games released later this year? Hard to say after such a slow start, will gamers invest in a PS3 after they've bought a Wii or a Xbox 360? Only if Sony can reclaim there exclusivity with the vendors who create the games.

LG Tacks On Free Insurance For Prada Owners: cool

I wish all phone manufactures would do this, but someone at LG must smoking the good stuff because this makes no sense at all.

The SK mobile phone giant will be giving 60,000 Prada owners free insurance totaling up to $215 and what’s even crazier is the fact that it covers the phone even if you break it. If you decide to run over it with a car or throw it out a 20 story building you’re still covered and this is outside of the regular warranty!

So why are they doing this?

The Prada is a high-end handset, you see, and LG just wants to prove its worth by putting up the money to prove it. Since its May 15 launch in SK, the Prada has sold 25,000 units with 100,000 sold worldwide.

U.S.? Yeah, we’re still waiting.
