"What's The Internet?" Circa 1994

For some reason I always thought the Internet was around for a while. Well that doesn't seem to be the case as Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric prove that we (well, at least them) were pretty ignorant about the Internet in 1994.

It's worth a listen.

Wow! What was with Katie Couric's hair? I didn't remember her being in the group "A Flock of Seagulls". LOL

On a serious note, I remember having email in college (late 80's early 90's) I didn't really use it then because it was impractical (no web interface). Then I had Prodigy at home (dial up 1200 Baud modem.) After that I was seriously into BBS's. I don't think I properly had an Internet account 'til 1995. Back then I spent more time on newsgroups than the web. (there just wasn't enough out there, but newsgroups were in their heyday.) By 1996 The "Web" started to grow immensely. I was a network admin and by 1997 I was waisting lots of time there on the web. LOL!

I guess every grew from the 1960's and DARPA originally. I haven't studied my history in a while. It is very interesting though. I had a friend who ran a BBS in the late 80's on a Commodore 128. Good times!!!! :)
