The NPD Group has released its videogame industry sales data for the month of August, 2010, showing continued growth in Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 hardware sales as the Wii continues to decline.
As it was in July, the Xbox 360 was the top-selling console for the month, pushing 356,700 units. The PlayStation 3 meanwhile sold 226,000, and for the thirteenth consecutive month, showed growth compared to its sales one year ago.
The Wii, meanwhile, sold 244,300 units, which the NPD says is its weakest performing month since launch. In an email sent today, NPD analyst Anita Frazier said that the group expects Wii sales to increase again once family titles Wii Party and Disney Guilty Party are released.
The full hardware breakdown follows.
- Xbox 360 - 356,700
- Nintendo DS - 342,700
- Wii - 244,300
- PlayStation 3 - 226,000
- PSP - 79,400
That being said, here’s a couple of great deals for an Xbox 360 console.

I knew that the Wii would come down to earth once people discovered that it can't do what the PS3 and Xbox 360 can.
Yeah, everyone I know that bought one pretty much has it collecting dust now. Only so many party games you can play with no depth or serious replayability. In my opinion
