Final Words from Circuit City Employee

circuit_city_01[1]

I saw this great article that was a letter from an employee at Circuit City.  As someone who has worked for a liquidator for the past 8 years, I know this persons plight.  The article is here Their Final Words as The Grunts of Circuit City [Circuit City]

That was a long ass article.. I feel bad about the employees, but the CEO who got rid of all the workers who really knew their stuff for $9 hour workers is really to blame. The guy is pissed at some of the customers who don't give a crap about them losing their jobs, but says nothing about CEO who put them in this situation, took his golden parachute and bailed. CC was mismanaged for the last 10 years, and some of the long time employees should have seen this coming.

I don't even think a change of CEO would have helped Circuit City. It didn't help CompUSA. He's not really complaining about why the company went down, that was an inevitability. The entire structure of the company doomed it to failure just like CompUSA. But I liked what he wrote since I had been on the liquidation side (albeit furniture, but that just makes for a whole new breed of asshole customer), and I had seen everything that he talked about. It is a shame that about only 1% of the people you meet when working a liquidation sale care about anything but getting over for a better deal. And half of that 1% are trying to get you to sell Amway or insurance. LOL
