Defect In Late Model ipod Nano Batteries?

If you have an older video ipod nano, you might want to check this one out. Apparently the batteries to the ipod nano model number MA099J/A (shown left) may have a defect that causes sparks to shoot out while recharging.

From Associated Press:

Japan is investigating a possible defect in Apple Inc.’s iPod after one of the popular digital music players reportedly shot out sparks while recharging, a government official said Wednesday…”

Fortunately no one has been injured, and Apple reported the issue in March. This only has affected models shipped between September 2005 thru September of 2006. None of the newer models have reported any issue of this kind.
