Worlds Fastest Elevator
Living in Chicago, you take it personally that your city use to have the Guinness Book of World Records for the worlds tallest building, and the fastest elevator. Well the Sears Tower lost the claim to the tallest building a few years back, and now another building in Taiwan has taken the worlds fastest elevator. This elevator in the Taipei building can move at 37.7 mph and moves so fast that it had to be aerodynamically designed.
Watch how fast this thing drops from the 89th floor.

Well, considering our building is over 30 years old, I think the architecture still stands. Plus, everyone else has had to use gimmicks and loopholes to surpass the Sears Tower. Counting the antennas in the building height. C'mon.
Having lived in Chicago for most of my life, I agree with both of you. I take it personally, and they sure as hell did use gimmicks and loopholes to get their "record" height.
However, I'm reminded of a particular episode of Star Trek The Next Generation:
Capt. Picard was in a Turbolift (elevator) with a bunch of scared kids; something went wrong and the turbolift dropped at free fall speed to the bottom of the Enterprise. Everyone was roughed up; Picard had a broken leg cause of this!
Lesson: Speed is cool and all, but don't forget, SPEED KILLS! LOL
