Not sure if I would classify this one as brave or stupid, but rapper Jay-Z took a bold move with his new album 'American Gangster'. The the album was listed on iTunes, but was pulled by the artist on Tuesday, and although the title is listed, you are unable to purchase it. Check the quote:
"As movies are not sold scene by scene, this collection will not be sold as individual singles.”
Now I wonder if he could have set the album up to only be sold as one complete unit on iTunes, but this move is questionable at best. Jay-Z is one of the biggest stars to pull an album from iTunes (outside of the Beetles, which hasn't made it to iTunes), so I'm curious to where this is going.
Brave or stupid?
You decide.

I see this as a brave move. Business-wise, almost everything Jay-Z touches turns to gold. He has proven to be pretty savvy and I'm imagining there is most likely a method to his madness. I'm seeing the R.O.C. download store opening soon.
Nelson, Depeche Mode, while not doing this action, used to have labeled on their CD's
Extended spaces between songs are the intent of the artist. Black Celebration, Music for the Masses, and Ultra all had this. Anyone who knows Depeche Mode probably understands that the albums are meant to be listened to straight though. Martin Gore sets a theme or mood on his albums and his intent is to bring about a metamorphosis to the listener as they listen to the album. Perhaps JayZ has the same feeling about artistic ambiance.
I thought he retired. =-P
