I live in a condo that is the cell phone hell of the world. It consistently gets crappy cell phone reception unless I'm standing on my patio. Usually the only way that most people can solve this issue is to move. Well the people of zBoost thinks that isn't a good option, and created the YX-510 cell phone signal booster.
The guys a Gizmodo had a chance to test one out, and the results were pretty good. According to Brian Lam "It's a dual band, in the PCS 1900 MHz and Cellular 800 MHz bands, which covers signals of EVDO, HSDPA, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon flavors in the US". The repeater connects to a antenna via a long coaxial cable, and zBoot claims it can boost a signal up to 55DB. Brian Lam says that it was more around 10-15dB when testing it himself.
It is a little on the pricey side at $350, but it is a lot cheaper than having to move just to get a good cell phone signal.
