Even though I do not completely agree with the way the article reads, Kotaku has a few details about one of the new acheivements in Madden 08. It seems now that once you win championships and achieve certian achievements, you progress through 5 different levels. Once you achieve level 3 you can order a ring from Jostens, who has designed most of the actual Super Bowl rings. You'd think a website that promotes video games would embrace this, but they say dismiss it saying that "Which, unlike a real Super Bowl ring, which is earned, is showcasing only your ability at an electronic football game (and propensity for wasting up to $495 of real money)." I have to disagree completely. There is a Madden Bowl every year. There are tournaments in every city. There are sever cyber gaming leagues. Plus what about people that would just like a ring that professes their team spirit. I don't think that I would ever order one, mainly because I rarely wear jewelry.
I think it's a pretty cool idea of having something tangible to chronicle your accomplishments, all the while showing your team pride.

I think it's kinda cool that you can get the ring only if you reach a level of achievement in the game. Not everyone has a chance to 'earn' a championship ring like Kotaku would like you too.
Not that I would get one (one ring that I wear is enough, but its cool that they give people a chance to show off an achievement that they're proud of.
The only way I'd go for it is if you got the absolute top achivement. Otherwise it's BS.
I think it would also be cool to get if you had a team collection. Be kind cool sitting next to other Bears memorabilia. And not everyone has a few grand to catch a real ring off ebay.
