Don't under estimate the power of the hackers!
It seems that the hackers have found a way to unlock the iphone, partially at least. Gizmodo's Jesus Diaz reports that the ass kickers at iPhone Dev Wiki were able to partially unlock the iphone using an application called iASign.
The hack doesn't allow you to take the iphone to any carrier, but it does unlock the Cingular/AT&T Pre-paid/MVNA SIM, so you don't have to sign your cellular soul away with the 2 year agreement with AT&T. And the other benefits? Check the bullet points:
• People can still enjoy corporate rate, which they don't get on iPhone plans (10% to 20% off in some cases even more)
• People can use a company AT&T SIM card on their personal iPhone.
