So you picked up an iphone and you absolutely love it!!! It didn't bother you that you dropped $600 on a phone, because you have the latest and coolest gadget known to man.
Well the guys at Business Week wanted to know just how much Apple was soaking you for, so they completed a study of all the parts in the iphone. And you know what they found? After counting the prices on all the parts, the 4 gig version cost $200 and the 8 gig cost $220, with the screen costing the most at $60. That is of coarse not counting the cost of manufacturing the phone itself. But it looks like Apple stands to make a gross margin of about 50%. Not to bad a take.
To be fair, many companies have this kind of gross margin. So this isn't unusual for Apple to be making a killing off of the iphone.
