Latest iPhone Ad: Surfing
Apple’s latest dog and pony show (read: ad) shows off the Jesus Phone’s prowess in the web viewing arena. Sweet, I can check out the NYT in all its glory and utilize that awesome multi-touch thingamabob to navigate through pages. I hope it doesn't really take 4 minutes (like some rumors have stated) to download this content to the iphone before I can start doing these cool things.
Can't wait to test it out!!!

The truth has to be that any sort of content like what the iPhone is capable of has to take time. It is still a phone; and using a cell phone carrier's speed has to be a bottleneck.
Secretly I am hoping that this thrusts ISP's to make a far more pervasive Wi-Fi city ability. We'll see.
This isn't entirely true. There are phones that have 3G capabilities that can download content at the speed of broadband. Regular 'Edge' only downloads at the speed of dial up. I know that ATT is upgrading their 'Edge' for the iphone, and it will help. But we need to start using 3G technology to get this party started.
