Software giants upset at Canada

Looks like Canada is upsetting the software community with their lack of effort in fighting piracy.

According to Microsoft, Apple, and the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) are charging that Canada isn't doing its part in fighting piracy of software, movies and other intellectual property in their country. The group took this to the U.S. Government asking them to move Canada up to the first tier of of top piracy offenders, which currently includes the likes of China and Russia.

The U.S. decided to give Canada a break by leaving them in the second tier position alongside Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, and a number of other countries. You can imagine that the IIPA were non to happy about that decision. IIPA stated that Canada "continues to cause great damage to legitimate rights holders, both of Canadian and US copyright products."
