I knew that Microsoft was fully behind the HD DVD format, but resent rumors had surfaced that the company may embrace Blu-ray, especially if it feels HD DVD isn’t catching on.
Not so my friends!!!
Microsoft:
"We’re fully committed to HD-DVD and have absolutely no plans to support other optical formats…. Current reports indicating that Microsoft has a back-up plan which includes Blu-ray support are incorrect."
So there you have it, no Blu-Ray for you.
At least from Microsoft.

Speaking of Blu-Ray, I was at my local EB-Games recently and a regional manager was in. I had brought my wife to see the 360. I was SHOCKED; no 360 on display, and the regional magager beelined to us and took us to a PS3 and she wouldn't let us leave (politely) for at least 10 minutes. One of the things she said was, "The HD/Blu-Ray war is over; and Blu- Ray crushed HD in sales.
I tried not to laugh; it was too obvious that the particular EB GAMES in question was BELOW quota in PS3 Sales. Their answer, Make the PS3 the only next gen system in stock (they had Wii's to, but that's not an Apples to Apples comparison) and have the regional manager bull rush patrons and tell them their's no better time to buy a PS3.
What a sick world we live in!
It's amazing that only the supporters of Blu-Ray continue to announce that the war is over and Blu-Ray won. Sounds frighteningly similar to 'Mission Accomplished'!!!
And we all know how well that war is going.
