Gundam robot: expensively stupid

What you are looking at is one of the most expensive toys in Japan. The Gundam Fixed Platinum was created by Bandai Co. and is a miniature of the Gundam robot from the anime series. The thing weighs 45 oz, stands 5 inches tall, and is made from pure platinum. Melted down at today's prices makes this thing worth $41,468.

You really have to be a big time fanboy for this one.

Note to self: If you ever become a millionaire, don't buy dumb expensive stuff.

To Me, Japaneese culture is wonderful, beautifull, and in some ways, very foriegn to many Americans lifestyle. I'm not saying spending that amount of money for a collectors toy (or figure) is bad; but it's pretty darn weird. I'm sure their are Americans who would do that for whatever they deem to be an important collectable; but that thing I saw looks like an old Micronaut charachter we played with in the mid to late 70's
