Record breaking Internet group
World records for Internet speeds do not last very long, such is the case with the 'Internet2 network' group. The operators of the Internet2 network set a new world record for data transfer over the Internet by achieving 9.08 gigabits per second using standard communications protocols.
To give you an idea of what these numbers are, a standard DVD movie is about 6-7 gigs. The group 'Internet2 network' sent more than a movies worth of information over 20,000 miles in less than 1 second.
So why is my itunes update download taking so long?
Check out all the details after the jump.

That's some impressive speed. Really it's almost unfathomable. (At least from someone who's been doing this thing for decades.)
Just as this is unfathomably fast, so to would a 300k baud modem to today's high school/college crowd.
We've come a long way baby!!!
