NYC mayor upset over 'GTA4'

As many of you know, video games are the catalyst of all crime. They drive kids to violence, sexual promiscuity, and defiance of all authority. At least that's what Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York would have you think. What the mayor is mostly upset over is the game 'GRAND THEFT AUTO 4'. He is angry because the fictional city that the game is based out of looks like NYC. This game isn't due out until October of 2007, but Bloomberg has heard enough about it that it has raised the ire of the mayor.

"The mayor does not support any video game where you earn points for injuring or killing police officers," Bloomberg said in a statement.

Actually it's cash that you earn. But getting back to the point.

What the mayor went on to say is that 'The violence in this game is in no way a reflection of NYC'. Thanks Mike, I needed you to tell me that. I was thinking about not going to New York because a guy is going to drag me out of a car and use a flame thrower on me. I'm curious why the mayor didn't go after the show 'Law and Order', isn't that set in New York? I guess the disclaimer of 'ripped from the headlines' puts enough distance from reality for Mike. Isn't Spiderman set in NYC? Oh.....No!!!!!

Must be a slow day in the wars on crime, drugs, illiteracy, child exploitation, human trafficking, and terrorism. We've got to do something about those video games. And don't even get me started about those damn kids and their dancing!

The thing is that this is a game, with a fictional city. Politicians please stop using video games, and other entertainment outlets as a soapbox for your political career. It's gotten old!!!
