Anton Yelchin Is Checkov In New Star Trek Movie

The casting of the 11th Star Trek movie is coming together, and J.J Abrams has already found his Spock. And now it looks like he's found his Checkov with the casting of Russian-born Anton Yelchin. Yelchin will play a younger Checkov in the new movie, and no word if the original Checkov Walter Koenig will be in the movie as the older version of Checkov. Casting is on-going in New York and London for the remaining spots of Kirk, Bones, Uhura, Sulu, and Scotty.

Read more after the jump. Thanks to Hero Spy for this information.

Uhhh, I guess in the future, Starfleet Academy will be like the schoolhouse on "Little House on the Prairie." Captains and Ensigns and folks of all ages will attend together at the same time. Screw timelines.

Yeah, didn't Checkov show up on the original show 2 years after the first episode? Kirk was already a captain and Checkov was an ensign.

Oh well, it's not like there dealing with a rabbit fanbase that notices the smallest things about this franchise.

Timeline I guess isn't going to be important in this one. Dumb.

The real challenge is going to be making the set and props look like they pre-date the fugly buttons and things that go "bwooop" set from the original ST days. Phasers, communicators, and transporters all should look like earlier versions. Especially Spock's sexy blue light computer screen thingy at the science station.

If they don't I'm not spending for the show.
