I've never understood the Beetles craze. I've always thought they were overrated and most young people from my generation were jumping on the bandwagon trying to be cool. When ever I tell someone that, they think I'm saying that they sucked, but that's not what overrated is. It just means that their talent just doesn't meet the hype that they generate.
So when Apple was in a major legal battle over songs from the Beetles, I just didn't get it.
Nor did I care!!
So after Apple straitened out all the legal stuff, they came up with a special Yellow Submarine ipod with all the Beetles songs, similar to the U2 ipod. Oh happy day!
I'm not sure why people care about the Beetles, but if you do hit the jump to read more. [TechDigest via Crunchgear]
I will say that, I have never owned a Beatles album (simply because there was no compelling reason) or anything prior to 1968 or so.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about the Beatles though is they were the first to accomplish their type of success; and also, especially in their later years, they pioneered a lot of experimental music; not like Jimi Hendrix, but in their own way. Also I'd have to say they pioneered recording techniques that were baffling at that time. It would be like going from a sippy cup to a nice glass of chardonnay. So because of all this, they influenced others that came after them in all sorts of ways. Not as much as Jimi Hendrix, but a pretty good leap nonetheless.
